The University of Alabama at Birmingham, a public university founded in 1969, enrolls more than 18,500 students worldwide. There are three main delivery types for eLearning and Professional Studies programs and courses:
- Online: These programs deliver most or all of the content online with no or few on-campus meetings. Programs that are delivered completely online are marked as 100% online.
- Distance: Accessible: These programs combine the use of online technology with required periodic on-campus intensives.
- Blended: These programs deliver at least half of their content online with the remaining content delivered via on-campus meetings.
The online doctoral and education specialist (EdS) degree programs offered at the University of Alabama at Birmingham make it easier for busy professionals to earn an advanced degree. UAB offers a growing number of online doctoral and EdS degrees online, with some programs being offered completely online with no campus visits required. This means that UAB alumni and others interested in obtaining a UAB doctoral or EdS degree can continue their education from almost anywhere in the world.
The Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education recognizes the University of Alabama-Birmingham as a research university with very high research activity.
U.S. News & World Report ranked the University of Alabama-Birmingham #149 in National Universities in its 2015 edition of Best Colleges and #143 in Best Education Schools. The university also tied for #182 in the magazine’s list of Best Global Universities.
Forbes ranked the University of Alabama-Birmingham #196 in Research Universities, while Princeton Review included the university in its 2015 list of Best 379 Colleges.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools provides University of Alabama-Birmingham with accreditation. The respected Association to Advance College Schools of Business also provides accreditation to University of Alabama-Birmingham’s Collat School of Business.
